How we support ambassador teachers

Unrivaled support

As the leading private J-1 teacher exchange visitor program sponsor in the U.S., we know what it takes to find the most qualified and experienced international educators. Though the standard participation period is up to three years, through an extension process, our teachers frequently continue for an additional two school years. At the end of the exchange teachers return to their home country to share their increased knowledge of the U.S. with students and colleagues. Many teachers apply again and return a second or third time as alumni to continue their experience.

Participate Learning provides international teachers with:

  • Guided, pre-arrival online training sessions
  • Travel to the U.S.
  • Arrival orientation covering U.S. teaching policies and cultural adjustments
  • Support network of experienced ambassador teachers
  • Annual conference for new ambassadors to learn and share practical classroom tips
  • 24/7 phone, email, and online support from Participate Learning staff
  • Access to professional development, lesson plans, and resources through communities of practice

Are you an administrator looking for resources to support your international teacher?

Expert help, there when you need it

Ambassador teachers have access to a 24/7 emergency phone, email, and chat support for any issues once they arrive and begin adjusting to their new schools and communities. Our expert team of instructional specialists and program managers ensure each teacher is observed in the classroom and is provided with additional coaching on a case-by-case basis.

Access to professional development

We believe connection and learning go hand in hand. Due to our rigorous process and commitment to finding the best fit for our school partners, not every teacher who is interested will become an ambassador. We continue to provide free PD opportunities so that all educators have access to resources and collaboration. In keeping with our mission and values, we empower educators to work together for a better tomorrow.
